This site, in the centre of the Juan de Fuca Plate, is critically important for several NEPTUNE Canada research projects, including Ocean Crustal Hydrogeology, Seismograph Network and West Coast "Tsunami-meter".

A triangular arrangement of Bottom Pressure Recorders (BPRs) is planned for connection to this platform. In 2009, two of the three were connected via 12.5km extension cables. A third was connected in May 2010:
